Join our team as a construction coordinator and provide engineering assistance to the resident engineer in administering highway construction contracts and preliminary engineering projects.
You will also interact with the public and maintain connections with local partners.

A day in the life:
Review project plans and specifications for accuracy and constructability.
Inspect, report on and coordinate all assigned phases of work between the resident engineer's office and the contractor on major projects.
Perform various office functions such as checking, preparing or maintaining construction expenditures, field reports, cost estimates and statistical studies.
Monitor disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE), equal employment opportunity (EEO), on the job training (OJT) and subcontractor compliance.
Perform final inspections on all completed projects and produce final reports.
Assure compliance with project plans, specifications and special provisions.
Enforce erosion control conditions and ensure environmental requirements are met by the contractor.
Make sure all contract change orders have the proper approvals.
Work is performed in an office environment and out in the field at least 30% of the time.
Requires working in and around construction equipment, occasional in state travel and possible exposure to rough terrain, traffic, stinging insects, poisonous plant life and inclement weather.

Five years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience.
One year of this experience must have been independently planning and completing assignments.
OR A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, surveying or transportation-related engineering and two years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience.
OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Driving is an essential function of this position.
You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record.
We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).
Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

Experience in inspection and contract administration of public works construction projects.
Experience in the application of mathematics, survey principles, engineering and construction practices and procedures.
